RE: Travel Trailer Options in Lite

We looked at the Rockwood 2306 (GVWR 4,677 LBS), but ended up with our Jayco Jayfeather 218 (GVWR 4,500 LBS) because it had both a dinette and a couch. The Jayco is available with a bunk over the queen bed, otherwise, you'd have to make up the couch every night.
Andy
These are two excellent recommendations.

simple. If you still owe the $1500 to your bank, title or no title, save your credit and pay your loan off. jmho

RE: Super light bunkhouse trailers

KSD, that's a very nice floor plan! We owned the Surveyor SV210 for 2 years before we upgraded to our Rockwood. We liked the Surveyor, it's well built, except we thought the wood framing they used to build the bed and dinette frames were not too good(cracked 2x2s and poor assembly) Other than that, the unit itself was well built. The Rockwoods are also built by Forest River and are lightweight but utilize aluminum framing throughout all the bed and dinette framing. The Rockwood 8317SS would seem to work for you. It's about 6000lbs dry.

I love our cap, but not for any gas savings (there isn't).

RE: TT under 6,000 wet weight

Sleep 6 and a queen size bed... With young kids, You'd do good by staying away from any sleeping configuration that requires knocking down the dinette except for the 6th person as an exception - it makes it very awkward if the young ones want to sleep and you're still awake - you can find triple bunks with a queen bed and still be light and short enough for your tow vehicle. You may want to consider the Rockwood 2306. Most RVs that sleep six will have a small bathroom. We had a 21' Surveyor before we realized that we needed more room and more tow vehicle, and bought the 2701SS as we wanted the slide and room and liked the bathroom sink outside of the bathroom. If you're going through the process of buying both a tow vehicle and a trailer, take your time to decide. Many here (like me) have bought 1 or 2 configurations before ending up with what they're happy with.

RE: Heading out and Just Filled up the F350! Read on its good!!

I also remember reading something about the US oil we do get here is sent down there, too.
Mexico is actually self sufficient in oil, (as we are here in Canada) except Mexico subsidizes its price for its consumers, but, of course, subsidies must come from taxes at another level of government... All of us are slaves to the world supply/demand price equilibrium.
We're paying about $6 / gallon here in Vancouver, it makes the $4.50 in Washington State seem like our Mexico... :)

RE: Little help please?

Nice trailer! Congrats. We bought our rockwood from RVW as well, they're great, take your time, and take advantage of their rv supplies store, and ask their opinion. They have great prices on their parts and they'll walk you through what you'll need if you ask. By the way, i believe the Rockwood has 2 gray water tanks, 1 for the kitchen and one for the shower. You'll be fine for one night of camping... have fun!

RE: TT w/ Pickup Truck..open box vs. tonneau vs. cap(topper)

We love our Leer Cap on our F150. Way more storage for camping, no discernable difference in gas mileage...

RE: Problem with swaying

I tried every imaginable setup while attempting to tow my 29' VR-1 TT with my F-150. There is just no way I could safely tow that trailer with that truck. It was just going to be a matter of time before I got into a situation that I could not control.
Is that the keystone VR1 with a dry weight around 6500 lbs? when loaded it would probably be up at close to 8000 lbs, definitely pushing the limits.
I pull a 33' Rockwood ultralite, dry weight about 4800 lbs, fully loaded around 6000 with a F150; using an e-qual-izer hitch it does a great job. Also, paying attention to load distribution helps alot.I guess it depends what trailer the original poster is planning on pulling - i'd suggest staying with the lite-weights. As most, our F150 is used for trailer towing a small percentage of the time, the rest of the time it's used as a daily vehicle. If I was retired and RV'ing more often, than certainly a diesel would be the preferred choice.

RE: up sizing the TV

Our F150 tows our 33' 6500 lb loaded Rockwood just fine, but I wouldn't consider it for your new Mountaineer, it's too heavy. A 3/4 ton diesel will work well for you.

RE: Rockwood Trailers

We bought our 2701SS in July '07, and have put about 30 nights and 3500 miles on it, no problems at all except some the panelling below the rear bunks wasn't glued too well to the aluminum bed framing, & fixed that myself easily. We love our Rockwood... No concerns, we also bought ours by ordering from RVW, but haven't had any warranty issues at all (beyond the above). Would buy it again all over again, no regrets.

RE: Passport 280BH questions before purchase

We don't own the Passport, but we have an ultralite Rockwood 2701SS - it's virtually the same floorplan, size, weight, and length. So although I can't comment on the Passport quality, you shouldn't have any problem towing, and the equalizer brand hitch is a great choice. Congratulations!

RE: 2008 Rockwood 2701ss entertainment wall

Congratulations!
We love our 2701SS with cream and stainless steel. We have the early '08 which was still 7.5 feet wide, without the entertainment centre and we're glad we don't have it. Keeps everything nice and open. Be sure to post some pics!
